2026 Finals and AGM

  • Post category:News

A very well attended quiz finals event was held at Tondu Railway Club and thanks go to all concerned at the Club in hosting the evening and providing an excellent buffet.

The Cup final was a very close affair, with the Pantruthyn Panthers overcoming the consistently strong Pheasant Nomads by a mere one point, the result being 58-57.

The Plate final was won by Tondu Railway Club by 57-39 against the Cabo Roche Wanderers, this clash being between 1st Division and 2nd Division teams, with the outcome and result being closer than expected.

In the AGM that followed the following decisions were made:-

The experimental quiz format that was tried for the first time this season, will be carried forward to the new season, with certain aspects to be re-arranged, instead of 2 leagues that have endured for many, many years.

Quiz start times were also discussed and a decision was made to keep timings as they are at present.

The provision of refreshments by home teams, although very welcome, is not obligatory.

The entry fee was raised by £5 and will now be £55, with registration being at Tondu Railway Club on September 7th at 8pm. when the, free to all-comers, Alan Rudge Memorial Cup quiz will also be contested.

The issue of League sponsorship was also discussed and would be welcomed from any source.

Remuneration for our much respected quiz setter will remain as is.

All committee members were re-elected.

The secretary would like it to be known that the website is managed and hosted by a 3rd party, at no cost to the League apart from the retention of the domain name of bridgendquiz.com, where results are sent weekly for publication on the site. The only access the secretary has is to the News section.
